Many things have changed since Carter began receiving hospice care in February of last year. Following a series of hospital visits to address a growing list of issues. Rosalynn, the wife of Jimmy, passed away in November. Over the last few years, the ex-president has faced numerous health issues, including brain cancer, liver cancer, a broken hip, and brain surgery.

However, Carter’s grandson has provided a health update one year into his hospice care.
“After a year in hospice care every day, we have no hopes for his body.” During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, he mentioned, “But we are aware that his spirit remains as resilient as ever.”
The Carter family expressed their gratitude for all the support Jimmy has received over the past year.
According to reports, President Carter is currently spending time at home with his family, a year after beginning hospice care. The Carter family expresses gratitude for the support they have received and for the ongoing respect for their privacy at this time.
Furthermore, it was mentioned, “His family is grateful that his decision to enter hospice care last year has sparked numerous family discussions nationwide on a significant topic.”
It appears that Carter belongs to the small 6% of individuals who began hospice care and have surpassed the one-year mark. As previously mentioned, Rosalynn, his spouse of 77 years, passed away in November at the age of 96, following a dementia diagnosis a few months earlier.
At that time, Jimmy’s physician, Dr. Michael Raines, expressed his concern following Rosalynn’s passing, describing it as a significant loss for him.
He acknowledged that in long-term marriages, individuals can become so intertwined that the death of one often leads to the decline of the other.

Former US President Jimmy Carter is seen listening during the kick-off of an all-week construction project to mark the World Habitat Day and the annual Habitat for Humanity Carter Work Project on October 4, 2010 in the Ivy City neighborhood of Washington, DC.
