Husband and wife sleep separately for 7 years, their reason will surprise you

For the past eight years, this woman and her husband have shared a unique living arrangement, opting to sleep in separate bedrooms for seven years!

This decision initially seems strange, but their reason to sleep apart will definitely surprise you!

The author explained to the Bright Side that, one morning, the author discovered her husband peacefully sleeping on the couch, leading to a candid conversation during breakfast.

Her husband explained that he had difficulty falling asleep due to her tossing, turning, and loud breathing. And when the pair both spoke about their sleeping patterns more deeply, they realized that sharing a bed had been contributing to various issues, including snoring, disrupted sleep, and general grumpiness.

Their work schedules really made the problem a lot worse, with the woman’s flexible hours conflicting with her husband’s need for a good night’s sleep before his 9 am work start.

So, once the couple recognized the impact sleeping together had on their well-being and marriage, they decided to sleep in separate bedrooms. Though, the woman admitted she really hesitated at the idea at first.

Eventually, she began to enjoy it, especially because her husband thrived in this new arrangement; he was experiencing improved sleep, increased morning energy, and felt much happier in general.

The woman explained that she had discovered a book by Paul C. Rosenblatt called “Two in a Bed,” which explores the social dynamics of couple bed sharing. The book says that sharing the same bed can lead to psychological problems and even contribute to insomnia or other disorders.

Rosenblatt’s research involves conversations with married couples, revealing that the bedroom often becomes a center of tension, which can lead to disputes over seemingly trivial matters.

The author said that her experience aligns with Rosenblatt’s book, because her decision to sleep separately significantly reduced arguments and increased overall calmness. Though, she said that people online have commented that sleeping separately is like the beginning of the end of a relationship.

Contrary to these stereotypes, numerous celebrities, like George and Amal Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, also have chosen to sleep separately, per New Idea. This choice is often down to practical considerations, such as snoring or even a desire not to appear unappealing to a partner!
