According to ilovemydogsomuch, the homeless Pit Bull named March was a laid-back and cheerful guy when he was originally rescued.

The kind people at the Philadelphia municipal shelter were optimistic that this charming and respectful youngster would soon find a family that would love him forever. Unfortunately, March’s traumatic nightmare began during her stay at the shelter.

March had no experience residing in cramped kennels with other timid animals that were also looking for forever homes. His mental health suffered as a result, and he started to lose his enthusiasm. But the worst thing was when an adoptive family he had befriended turned him down because he wasn’t as “playful” as they had hoped.

Hearing that the adoptive family had revoked their decision to take him home with them devastated March. March appeared extremely discouraged and depressed upon returning to his chilly kennel. Seated in a corner, he scowled pitifully at the wall and flat-out refused to engage with anyone.

Dawn Timmeney, a news reporter from the area, learned about March and chose to share his tragic story online. The tragic photos of March’s dejected kennel pose went viral, which altered the course of this gloomy boy’s life irrevocably.

A rescuer stepped forward to save March just three days after Dawn launched her social media campaign, just in time for his kill list turn. March managed to escape the refuge on his own, a rare and triumphant event!

Until he meets his future family, March will be well-cared for by the new rescue, a no-kill group. Despite the happy ending in March’s story, millions of shelter dogs go to death every year because they can’t adjust or find homes fast enough. We can all do our part by speaking up for these helpless people. Let others know.
